As I entered into this cosy restaurant….I felt a twinge of “zen-ness” amongst the ambience. I would expect that the diners eat with proper etiquette and with little morsels of food with slow chewing mode.
My eyes scattered around watching every staff in every nook and cranny without battling an eyelid.
It was that intense. But it was so intensed and professional that it turned out to be a fun, happy and laughter event!
I love the whole event. I am good with people but when you meet the right people, combustions of laughter, fun and happiness trails on even after the event ended. And one can feel the sweetness of such kinship being forged not just on business level but also as friends in life.
The sweetness of this jovial experience began with the meeting of Ms Aisha, one of the PR Assistants. A very promising bright law graduate. What fascinated me about her was how alike, we seemed to be. She was pursuing her passion regardless of whatever the consequences may be. I love that spirit in her. A very happy person with a beautiful inner and outer personality.
Assistant Manager, the PR, Mr Achiek , he has years of journalist experience and is a very talented individual. He learned his way through and was able to captivated us with his charms, wit and especially his mannerism (his unique laughter can always make me laugh!).
Came..Man No.2… The man with the prim and proper moustache, the Master Japanese Chef Eiji Tokuda..who never laugh nor squirt a word as we enter the premise. And ended up, he is one of the funniest man around!
He has his own candid moments which I find interestingly intriguing. Because his crazy antics kinda help us to loosen up our own “defensive” mechanism (when meeting new people, we always have this “turned on” automatically) and we too let down our hair and have fun with the food, surroundings and people. And erm…especially with the wasabi.
The wasabi story: Bryan loves to create instant challenges. And so he challenged me to eat a “molehill” of wasabi. I accepted his challenge with a smug. I know that was “chicken feed”. I was adamant to win that 10kg weight loss challenge to go to Japan trip , I am prepared for all the wasabis in the world!
So when it was his turn, we (Aisha and me) kinda encourage him to eat extra servings with extra “hill” of wasabi so much so that he choked and cried for “MUMMY”. I dunno whether I should feel guilty or laugh at the same time. I’ve never seen him “cry” before. (sorry partner!*very remorseful)
Ok, the food was then prepared artistically. Japanese food always have such dainty artsy with a lil playfulness of creativity. That is why I love Japanese food and its people.
How do I know about Agehan Restaurant?
First and foremost, I have not heard about any Japanese Restaurant being Halal-certified especially in Shah Alam. And I love Japanese food! (Tsukiji Fish Market, I’m coming down for Sashimi!) . So when I learnt about it on the net, we immediately contacted them.
Agehan has just got its Halal-certification and is being “mobbed” by Halal foodies in and around Malaysia just like me. but I’m exceptionally crazy ..I’m willing to travel far and wide for Halal food.
I was drooling buckets after buckets while Bryan was busy capturing the food shots. So, after the food “photo shoot”, they led us to the dining area. They treated us like “King and Queen”.
The colourful feast they bestowed upon us were as massive as 2 tables wide. I was flabbergasted but inside I was jumping with joy!! I cannot show them my excitement, I have to be prim and proper remember? Be the princess…Eat like the Japanese… (but wait,I thought Japanese eat with loads of noises and burps?)
Ok, never mind that…feast your eyes….for now.
My own verdict:
I like their sashimi and green tea ice-cream (Especially when the Chef personally sprinkled gold dust only on mine… *wink )
Overall food, I would give them a 2.9 out of 5.
The staff service and efficiency are excellent. Very cosy setup. I like to stay there longer and take my time to dine. Can be romantic for some. Oh, btw… they also have Teppan-Yaki.
Ok for those who are very particular about Halal-ness…this is the halal cert.
Heartfelt gratitude: Thank you awesome people (esp those whom we did not get to mingle like Ms Farah etc) of the Agehan Restaurant! Love your unique jovial personalities and happy awesome vibes!
