Fascinating zhi char dishes which i intend to try one day insya-Allah- the sotong with petai (“smelly beans”), hotplate oyster egg, sting ray and their fresh fish from UBIN kelong steamed..
UPDATED! Tried them recently..
sambal stingray goes very well with the chinchalok (prawny sourish
dip) Normally i dont eat chinchalok but this sambal sting ray is BEST eaten with chincalok…$8 for small serving for 2-3person. Very fleshy and fresh for small portion. yum!yum!
Hotplate oyster is what I’ve been searching for! Its not starchy, the oysters are moist and not rubbery.A bit costly $8 but can feed 2-3 persons. WORTH IT! Often the oysters omelette in HALAL foodcourts are normally starchy and rubbery and costly..but this is GOOD!(not for those who cannot eat raw items/ dont like the “hamis”/seafoody smell)
Wanted to try the petai/stinky beans and steamed fish but no tummy space…so next time!
p.s; Also I did sneak a peak at Sri Bistari Ayam penyet…wanted to take some shots but batteries failure..I like their super power sambal belacan! But now everywhere got ayam penyet..
